I'm suggesting that if you're going to make modifications there's no need to spent 3000$ on stuff that you can buy yourself. I took the leftover 2000$ and bought myself a beater car for the winters.

All I'm suggesting is with a little brain power, and google, there's no need to spend 3000$ on this retro fit. I pieced mine together but got screwed by a guy in the UK claiming it was a 'functioning unit'. My mistake. I still paid less than 2k for the entire set up. Also it was so good, I managed to get a fully functioning CIC unit replaced for free by BMW under the 'owners warrentee' (mine is a 2010).

If you aren't confident in doing it, then don't... or pay the price! Literally!
