the tpms sensor is a specialized valve stem and radio transmitter
they can be taken in and out and exchanged between oem and custom wheels
ftm... what his car has (not his wheels)
is a different tire pressure sensing technology that deals with abs and gives u no real data in ur car
ie. tire pressure

A word of advice, the gaskets, xmiter and stem have to be assembled correctly on the wheel or the stem will leak! An experienced tire installer has to know what he/she's doing. This is a little different than pulling a rubber tire valve through the hole on a wheel! Ask me how I know

the removing of the tire and placing of the tire onto the wheel is where the technical part comes in
someone not aware of sensors in a wheel can crack the housing making them inoperable
but the actually removal of the sensor u dont even really have to remove the tire
just press on its sidewall untill the sensor is reviled and with a socket and ratchet, undo it
if the value is seemingly stuck in there...
give it a lil tap with the ratchet, careful not to hit ur wheel or let it fall into the tire (then ull have to remove it)
i doubt u will be doing all this
