I have an e90 rearview with homelink and compass. Wanted to put it on mine. Can i perform a clean swap on the two. take one and replace with the other and so forth? Or will i need to run a new wire for the compass? thanks

Compass is built into the mirror. Size is the same and looks to be a simple swap. I will post pictures later, still waiting for the mirror to be dropped off. But from what i have read it will just pop in place? Surprised no one on here has used or done this before?

I think physically it'll pop into place but I'm not sure about all the electrical connnections. Do both mirrors (old and new) have homelink, the auto dimming feature and the alarm "clown-nose"? (There may also be rain-sensor issues, I think...)

I hope everything works out for you but as you mentioned, I'm not sure if the compass has additional wiring requirements or if it gets power from an existing connection.

Good luck!

Well here is the update. The rearview snapped in like a charm and powered right up with the exsisting harness. The old and new rearview had homelink and self dimmer and clown nose. So the transfer was a snap.. My problem is not the compass will only show SW regardless of what direction i am facing. Is there a way to reset them or do i need a SW upgrade. Seems to be plug and play, All other functions work the red flash and the home link. Any help or input is welcome. thanks I will post pic soon here.. Still workin on it tho..need the compass to change....

Problem solved. This may help someone in the future. There is a button that i overlooked due to the button being snapped off. Once I saw where it was a snap. Took 10 mins... thanks and night all
