Default Possible to have brighter Pre-LCI HID's?

Hey All,

Not sure if this has been covered or not, but I was curious to know if there was any way to make the factory HIDs brighter for a pre-lci E60?

I feel like our headlights aren't bright enough...compared to other cars, like Acura's or Benz, the output of pre-lci seems a little dark. HID fog lights help, but I dont want to have to run these all the time.

Suggestions? Would it be possible to replace the ballasts, or would upgrading to LCI-headlights be the best route?

maybe aftermarket hid's with a 55w ballast would be brighter.. however im not sure if the 55w will get to hot for the headlight..

Yes. The stock E60 HID are 35W @ 4300K. There are 6000K versions of the stocks from Philips. The light is definitely brighter and has more blue'ish tint.

This is incorrect info.

4300K output more lumen than 6000K. It just looks brighter because of the color temperature when you're actually losing about ~300 lumen going to 6000K. Realistically it probably won't be discernible difference for most, but if you are looking for brightest output, definitely don't go for 6000K.

Unless you want to pay $200 for a set of CBI bulbs, which looks 6000k but actually outputs at 4300K.

Or the SVS bulbs, which are slightly yellower, but seems to be the new favorite amongst enthusiasts.
