I have a 05 525i. I have read the threads of how to remove the charcoal filter but I am having trouble locating/prying it off (welded probably). Im going to post some pics so it would be more helpful if someone could tell me what to do. Got the K&N filter too so I want to do this soon Any help?

Are these the pictures for your car?
If so, I don't see you having a charcoal filter.
The charcoal one is clip to the top part of the filter box housing (the part you are holding with your hand), yours has nothing there!

There is no charcoal filter in the picture. You don't have one.

I don't think pre-09/05 530i has charcoal filter as well as all 525i. Only post-09/05 530i and V8 has it. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Black525i, you're incorrect. Re-read my530i's post. He's saying that his does not have it b/c it's an '05, hence the reason he said "pre". whereas 06's and 07's do have it "post '05".

Based on those pictures, it appears that your car doesn't have it. If it's not up there, you definitely don't have it. It's clear as day. You would totally see that it's an extra filter, as it has a white mesh fabric as it's filter, instead of orange like the stock air filter that falls below.

Take out your old filter and drop in the K&N and enjoy!
