Default M5 springs on an Xdrive?

Anybody have experience with using stock M5 springs on a non-M car? I've got a 2007 530xiT unicorn and am looking to lower it just a bit. I'm leery of going the full 1.4" and more from aftermarket springs - I did that on my 01 525iT and didn't like the ride.
From the sounds of it, either M Sport or M5 suspension is pretty good from a ride quality balance perspective. Seems as though there are a decent number of take off springs out there an I assume there is some lowering that would happen from the Xdrive to RWD and perhaps a slight raise from the engine weight difference between the V10 and I6 I've got. Really, I'm looking for around 3/4" to fill the fender gap a bit better - it's got way too much gap as it is.

Thanks,
Andy

I would guess that the M5 Springs are not compatible because of the different weight of the M5 and the electronic dampers.

I could be wrong but in general I believe the springs and shocks/dampers are basically engine specific up front since the v8 obviously weights more the i6 and the v10 weights even more.
