Hi Guys

I have a dilemma. I have bought an M5 Shifter and console to retrofit onto my 2004 530 Manual. When I ordered the parts from BMW they infomred me that it should work ok. I don't want any of the buttons to work or lights to light up, really just want it to replace my Manual Gear Stick and Gaiter, however, having sloted the console into place it's impossible to get into any of the gear positions as the hole in the M5 shifter console is too small to allow any gear changes. Has anyone tried this on a Manual before?, I know it's been done successfully on autos. Wasn't sure whether there was a way round this, I think it could work with some modification to the gear stick itself, but i'm not all that clued up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

correct me if im wrong, but i thought that, other than e60s with smg, only e60s with steptronic transmissions can do this mod of the M5 smg shift knob. on the steptronics, the gaiter is not replaced. only the shift knob and it includes some wiring connections. ive tried searching and i found where the console was changed including the panel, but nothing to a manual tranny. member my530i makes and sells the kits for the M5 smg shifter for the steptronics as well as smg paddle shift kits btw. you could try pm'ing him about that M5 shifter for more info.

NeRwEEzy, I think you're right, it's not going to work with my manual.

I have an E60 545 Steptronic with a full M5 Body Conversion. I want to replace my automatic gearstick with an M5 one and control my Steptronic box. Have you any idea where I could get some info on doing this? I have searched google but no luck. Cheers.
