///M Sport steering wheel retrofit
Hey there, I purchased what I thought were all of the necessary parts to swap out my stock wheel with an M Sport unit, but it turns out I also need the switch panels on each side of the wheel (thumb panels). I assumed the same panels/switches from the original wheel would be used, primarily because those items are grayed out in the REALOEM image below. Any idea how I can get the correct panels/switches? After that problem is solved, can I re-utilize the switches and just pop them out of the old panel and in to the new one or are they sold as complete assemblies?
Main parts I purchased:
(01) 32346774123 Steering wheel, 535i, 535xi,w/sport wheel, w/steering wheel heater, w/lane departure sys. 2008 - 2010
(10) 32346774448 Driver inflator module, 535i, 535xi, w/sport wheel, w/lane departure sys., to 01/09 2008 - 2009
(04) 32347841044 Lower cover - W/sport w/m5 2008-10 2008 - 2010
(02) 32346772990 Mount plate - W/sport w/o m5 2008-10 2008 - 2010
Various and sundry screws were also purchased.

I was able to dig a little deeper and answer my own question. For the benefit of anyone else upgrading their standard steering wheel to the Sport wheel (without paddle shifters) here is the parts list for an LCI vehicle with heated steering wheel and lane departure warning:
32346774123 Steering wheel, 535i, 535xi, w/sport wheel, w/steering wheel heater, w/lane departure sys. 2008 - 2010
32346774448 Driver inflator module, 535i, 535xi, w/sport wheel, w/lane departure sys., to 01/09 2008 - 2009
32347841044 Lower cover - W/sport w/m5 2008 (the black ///M-badged cover is identical in fit to the black/silver sport cover, so I bought it because it looks nicer. It comes with the ///M decal, so no need to purchase that separately)
32346772990 Mount plate - W/sport w/o m5 2008-10 2008 - 2010 (mounts the airbag to the steering wheel)
61316968573 Steering wheel - Switch assy (Left) - W/lane departure - W/sport w/o m5 2008
61316983282 Steering wheel - Switch assy (right) - W/lane departure - W/sport w/o m5 2008

61316968573 Steering wheel - Switch assy (Left) - W/lane departure - W/sport w/o m5 2008
61316983282 Steering wheel - Switch assy (right) - W/lane departure - W/sport w/o m5 2008

If you're inclined to the M-Sport wheel instead of the "sport" wheel (32346774123 as I listed above). It does add some additional flair and it's compatible with all of the other parts noted above in my original list. The M-Sport wheel costs just a few dollars (Euro, Pounds, Dinar, etc) more, but if you're going for the upgrade, may as well go all the way!
32342283945 Steering wheel - m-sport wheel w/heater w/lane departure w/o m5 2008-2010

Yes it does have more flair . Sorry for hijacking your thread, but I do have one for sale in the classifieds too, not a sport one, but a M-sport one with the airbag. The extra thickness and thumb knobs make it that much better. Thanks for the info though!

I have access to a BMW wholesale account, so I'm getting the new wheel (32342283945) for $500. Best of luck with your sale and I hope I can get some interest for my "brand new, only installed and used for about a week" sport wheel. That new leather and thicker heated grip has got a great feel to it.
I am also selling my original standard wheel as a complete set - airbag, switches, everything.

My Ride: BMW 535i 2010
Hi grub,
I have a 2010 535i manual transmission with heated / lane departure wheel. The steering wheel itself is the basic one for 2010. Can you give me the part number for the m5 model with the tri color stitching and the heat/ lane departure?
Thanks!
Theo
