LCI Seats - power supply outside of vehicle?
The sport seats in my E61 were my happy place. I'm thinking of finding a junkyard seat and turning it into an office chair. I figure the seat adjustments are integral, and I will just need to find a way to supply power.
But the big question is whether I can get seat heaters to work. Has anyone tried this? If anyone has a wiring diagram, it would be much appreciated. A three position switch would be great, and I'm not worried about distribution as it works with idrive, just want heat if possible.

My Ride: ,retro sport button,comfort seats,m5 front and rear swaybars,pullbars,550 brakes kit with slotted and drilled rotors,upper strut brace,lower 2pt brace,3im,power box,m5 eom wheels,m5 rep bumper and skirts.

Here's what I've found dissisembling an e60. The seat is self powered and independent of the car. What I mean by this is as long there is power going to the seat module, it will all work, the external switches are heat, memory, and active,is you have the seats.

Good news, thanks. If I can't find a wiring diagram or schematic that I can read, I might have to just try to find the heated seat switch and mount it to something.

If you were going to do this, your better off acquiring the harness going to the seat and making a toggle pac or so if you want all the comforts to work. I may have a harness, but it's not with sport package, if your serious, I can try to locate the wiring, I have a whole 08 535 harness that's out of the car, so I can provide you the harness if interested.

The seat heating is not a "switch" as you might think.
It works like nearly every other feature in the car. it is a can-bus signal from one computer module to another.
