So I decided to buy the Hamann diffuser from our very own Hamann aficionado, ats77 (he is a very nice member and helpful with any Hamann related questions).

Heres how it went:

03/06/07: Asked ats77 for a price quote.
03/06/07: Ats77 replied and invoiced me the price through paypal.
03/06/07: Paid through paypal.
03/21/07: Notified by ats77 that the diffuser has been shipped.
03/23/07: Notified by ats77 of the flight number for the diffuser.
03/25/07: Diffuser arrives in US.
03/25/07: Diffuser held by US customs.
03/26/07: Schenker Customs Broker calls and say they will send me the necessary forms to clear customs.
03/27/07: Custom broker e-mail me the forms.
03/27/07: Completed forms fax to customs broker.
03/28/07: Customs broker calls and said they sent me the wrong forms and e-mail me the correct forms along with necessary power of attorney forms.
03/28/07: Correct forms notorized and completed and then faxed to customs broker.
04/06/07: Custom broker calls and said the item has been cleared. Item scheduled to be delivered next Monday between 8am~7pm.
04/07/08: Socal Meet #7
Monday, 04/09/07: Diffuser arrives @ 5pm.

Cost

Diffuser
$536.70 (399,00? @ 1 U.S. Dollar = 0.743431 Euros)
Shipping
$201.77 (150,00? @ 1 U.S. Dollar = 0.743431 Euros)
Notarization
$10
Custom Fees
$472.96 (!)
Paint
$100
Total: $1321.43

Here is a before and after picture:

Exhaust is Eisenmann 4 x 76mm.

A couple of comments on the fitment:
There are a few 'clips' along the edge of the diffuser that go into the m-aero rear bumper; one of them has to be broken off so that it will fit. The diffuser is made out of fiberglass and doesn't have much 'give'. To make it fit, it has to be put under relatively high strain. It kind of feels like it would pop out at any moment. Also, if you get the Eisenmann exhaust, part of the diffuser conflicts with the right half of the exhuast and a 3"x3" square needs to be cut off.

As a last note to people contemplating buying this diffuser, I would recommend that you get the 4 x 90mm Hamann exhaust to complement the diffuser (like a fellow member aR. did), as the Eisenmann exhaust looks too small. Unfortunately, the 90mm exhaust is only avaliable for the 550i...

Good night y'all.

I wasn't aware that quad_m could get ahold of the diffuser. I was under the impression that the only stock of the item was in Germany and that I might as well just buy it directly from Hamann. As much as I like the idea of someone else paying the custom fees, that wouldn't be quite fair, would it?

Where did you get your 1st diffuser with the dual cut-out? Is that custom made from the factory Mtech diffuser? Is it for sale?

I got the first diffuser from Eurorev (www.eurorev.com). It is custom made. It is also not for sale, just in case anything goes wrong with the Hamann diffuser.
