Do any of the stages for the Step improve the quickness of the Step's shifting?
I assume it does based on the following description:

"The software safely raises the rev-limiter by 100 rpm, enabling you to carry more road speed in each gear, as well as optimize shift points. The top speed governor has been removed, enabling the cars to reach their natural top speed. Revsised EML tuning provides improved drivability by speeding up throttle response."

I emailed my sales guy there for additional info and will report back.

It depends on where you are and what time it is.
For example, if you're in Bay Area from 6am to 9am and 3pm to 7pm, w/ and w/o speed limiter, you can drive up to 60mph depending how many people you have in car. If you have 2 or more, you can go up to 60mph. If go by single, the best you can do is 40mph. J/K

Without speed limiter, you can go up to 170mph. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have some updates on this topic.

1) For Stage 2 and 3 software upgrade, there's no additional hp gains. The only gain is if you're going from stock to Stage 1 with the K&N filter (8hp + 6 lb-ft). Stage 2 and 3 are based on the fact that you've already have the throttle body or the throttle body and intake so the hp gains are already realized with those mods. Stage 2 & 3 software, as well as stage 1, improves driveability, optimizes shift points in automatics, improve throttle response, increase rev limiter (250 rpm for 6sp & SMG and 100 rpm for Step), and removing speed limiter. It sounds like I'm just regurgitating what's on their website and that's not too far from the truth since the sales guy I talked to, basically read off his collateral. haha

2) With regards to improving the quickness of the Step's shifting, I think that might be addressed in the note that says "optimized shift points". I did ask the sales guy and he's unsure. He said they might have separate transmission software coming out later but he's not 100% sure of that either.

3) With regards to CIP updates, he said that if new CIP updates happen to flash out their software, they will redo it for free.

4) They currently have a 10% rebate on all performance products and software not including brake packages.

I hope that helps. I might be the guinea pig for this software tomorrow and if so, will provide more updates.

Good question and I don't know. From what I've read with other software, fuel economy is supposed to be improved.

Anyway, so I took the day off thinking I could drive over there to get the software upgrade but it turned out that they had the company's Xmas luncheon today...... Guess I'll have to come back another day.

EuroCarFan,
Perhaps now with the software your mods will really be noticeable. As we discussed before, the E60 computer adjusts to intake and exhaust changes, negating its performance compared to older BMWs. I wish they have something for the 550I, specially for the step. I went to test drive the new X5 4.8 yesterday and the software iand reaction of the X5 step was instant, no hesitation and close to what i consider perfect for my driving. (btw: that car is awesome and I'm considering it as Im in the need of more room :-/) after i tested it I went to my ar and it felt sluggish compared to it.
So let us know when you done it and lets see if you can borrow a Gtech pro to test your times

I actually have a G Meter. It's been sitting in my glove compartment for close to a year now.

Let us know how you like the software. I just requested price on CAI, stage 3 software and TB to go with my Dinan exhaust. I'll have it done sometime after xmas.
