Default Debadged the trunk today

Debadged the trunk today, much cleaner look in my opinion!

I used the Griots Garage Adhesive Remover, a Heat Gun, and Medium Autoscrub pad on a Flex DA. I found that a lot of heat really helped get everything off without marring the paint, ~90C paint temperature did the trick (as confirmed with the IR thermometer). There is still a slight shadow of the letter, but that should come off when the car is polished.

Debadging was literally the first thing I did when I get my car home. Agree it looks much cleaner.

What did you use to take it off?

I heated the area to ~90C using the heat gun with the letters attached. This made them very soft, then I used a length of 28 gauge PTFE wire to pull them off in one piece, they came right off with very little force.

On the adhesive, I opened the trunk and allowed it to soak with a microfiber saturated in the adhesive remover for ~10 minutes. I then heated the area to 90C again and lightly rubbed the adhesive off with the microfiber.

FWIW, BMW OEM labels use 3M 5605 foam tape, or equivalent. This tape softens significantly above 70C.

There's a tool to take these off.. Literally takes 10 minutes start to finish. Big spatula looking thing that cuts through the glue. Then an eraser wheel on a rotary tool for the remaining glue. I've been contemplating doing this as well...

Hi guys, first post
Very simple, Really hot water (not boiling) poor plenty of really hot water on the badges, then simply twist them off. Takes about a minute.
Continue with a little more hot water after the badge has been removed to get any remaining glue off.
No chemical, not cutters, no abrasives.

Same here. Cheapest and easiest mod to give your E60 a cleaner look.
