Anyone have any suggestions for cold air intake systems for 530i?
I have only found one system on web for ~$1500USD from a German site.

Sounds like Gruppe M--nice carbon fiber, but very expensive.

My opinion is don't waste your money on a so called cold air intake, or "free flow" air filter--I doubt you'll be able to feel any significant increased performance.

If you are looking only to change the sound, might as well just get the ACS silencer (muffler)-- retails for approx. $400 USD (+ some spare change labor/install )

I will get a cold air intake when Dinan releases theirs. I think cold air intakes do make a difference in general--though probably not what their manufacturers claim. On the other hand, I think Dinan is relatively honest about gains. Check out the Dinan site--especially the section on dynometer testing. Keep in mind that one doesn't expect performance miracles from one after-market piece, but the cumulative effect of several is likely to be pretty good.

if you want some sound, put some whistle tips on there, lol, but seriously, I know a guy who really tweaked out his BMW, and he thought they were only really worth it if you were doing massive overhaul and trying ot really increase hp by a significant amount, then everylittle bit helps, but as for putting a cold air kit in, then trying to drag race a ferrari or something, I don't think they perform quite at the level in which they claim to.
