I removed the charcoal filter on my car. Thanks for great instruction. It took me little time to remove and clean the area. I think the car now idles a little better, more responsive throttle in D (currently on CIP 16.2) and rev smoother. I'm also going to schedule my car for CIP 20.x upgrade next week. Hopefully, I will get MP3 capability.

Great instructions Lomag. I removed the charcoal filter yesterday. No styrofoam just small leaves here. A perfect way to spend the saturday before superbowl sunday. I did it in about 15-20 mins.
Seems to be a little more responsive, thanks again.

Mine's gone, too! A couple of notes:
1. No styrofoam - I got cheated.
2. Did not need to remove sensor. Once clamp was loosened, the filter housing could rotate enough to remove both filters.
3. Mr. Remus did not sound any louder.
4. Can't respond to whether there any performance change. I kicked it about a three mile tour from home in first and second gear. Definitely a sweet performing machine, but only a dyno could tell for sure. I was not disappointed.
5. SMG didn't seem affected -- probably 'cause I didn't get the styrofoam.

I took apart the Dinan CAI...well, just the airfilter box and guess what? No charcoal filter! The Dinan CAI assembly consists, among other things, of a new air filter box cover, which has the Dinan name and logo engraved. So the new lid does not have that filter. From what most of you have said, this could perhaps contributed to the 17hp gain that Dinan claims.
Oh and btw, no styrofoam... Dinan must have removed it along with any other deposits when they installed the new CAI.
