The 545/550 is in such a high state of tune that it is not easy getting much more HP out of it. The easiest modifications is cold air intake (4 more HP), exhaust (6 more HP) and software (8 more HP) and its not clear if the gains are cummulative. The 535 software is rumored to give a 50-80 HP gain. Wih a computer controlled Turbo engine you can change the boost mapping with RPM and gear changes, you can also go into overboost for short intervals (In the Porsche Turbo its ten seconds intervals) where you can see 100 HP gains for ten seconds then it cuts back to stop detonaton and heat.
This is a reason I went with the turbo motor but I was hoping to get the performance software sooner than six months as the motor has been around for over a year in the 335i.

I have heard this before, any hard evidence about this split. BMW should release something about the split in some sort of newsletter or media form.

I agree. I even emailed two reps over at Dinan over two weeks ago about this speculation and if true, how that would affect the warranty on my current (and future, if any) parts. So far ... not one response. Sounds pretty fishy at the moment because they normally reply pretty quick.

It's about time. Lot of wasted monet so far...

BMW's M sport has been there but not enough to serve and satisfy the real tuners.

BMW has its BMW Mobile Tradition which I think is great,
but now also soon for the modern tuners

This doesn't mean Dinan is going to stop making stuff for our cars right?

I doubt it but a big part of the appeal of Dinan was the BMW approval and tha fact that modding w/ Dinan would not void the BMW warranty. That aspect will likely go away if the relationship ends.
