Well I finally got a pair of decent led DRL's. Got it from a guy locally that says they are imported from Germany. They are supposed to be 20w (they are certainly not even close to 20w, but all say that

At night they are very very bright, and are ok/decent during the day. Prior to this set, I used to have a "10w" set. Both sets are with cree leds. The one I installed yesterday have 4 small cree leds, as the ones before only had 1.

Here are some night time pics

I'm glad somebody is beginning to pay attention to heat sink/longevity designs over: "Mine are: 10 watt!; 20 watt!; etc., etc.,"

Getting a bright, thin, ring of light, in broad daylight, is a huge goal.

Yes, you can get it upfront; but how long will it last?

That's why BMW have these massive heat sinks on their newer cars. And aluminum isn't cheap either.

My MTEC's are okay during the day. Visible, white, but not F10 bright. If I wanted that, I'd be in the $400+ range for an LED system and I don't believe that one exists.

Compromise is the answer. Getting in the ball park of new BMW's is the best you should attempt with an E60. Don't over spend on it.

You really should be looking at your headlamps and getting Philips D2S Xenon X-treme Vision http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/c...?ctn=85122XVS1 bulbs if you own an E60

It's 4800K output, and since it's a halogen, it will turn to 5000K+ with age. (Remember that halogens turns "whiter" with age.)

That will get you the most "White, bright" for the money on the frontend of your car.
