I've been looking for some performance upgrades for my 525, since it didn't have all the power i was hoping for. I feel bad for people with 520's. What do you guys think of this intake?

Its on e-bay. Do you think it will help at all?

It will help and I do not think it will void a warrenty. I believe the only problem is that you will have to replace the filter yourself. You may want to call the service dept near you and verify.

Your oxygen sensor should be fine. It is allowing more oxygen not restricting it.

I saw that post from the homedepotguy. Pretty neat way of increasing the airflow. I figure since my car is new, I'll wait on most of that stuff until the 'new' feeling is gone.

Noise is also always a considering with open element filters such as this one. Surprisingly?from within the car ?open intakes? can make more audible noise than a free flow exhaust. And keep in mind that unless BMW really messed up the design on our intakes (doubt they did)?I would be very surprised if an intake such as this creates any measurable HP increases on our cars. Often times open intakes, while freer flowing than the oem piece, are very susceptible to heat-soak and hot air intake (from the engine compartment) which in turn negates any HP gains from the higher volume of air. There is often times a ?perceived hp? gain due to the louder noise?but at the end of the day the numbers are not there to back it up.

Bottom line I would be surprised if this was a worthwhile mod. But I may be wrong?just my 2-cents.

My comments are based on my own first hand experience on VW?s, Audi?s, BMW?s and full size SUVs.
