Question Advice on springs??

Hi everyone, I'm new to the group and need advice. I have a 2010 535i and am going with a 20" wheel. Can anyone recommend a lowering spring that will reduce wheel fender well gap. I don't want it slammed. I just don't know how much I will need to drop it with a 20 wheel. Any advice appreciated

What tires you going to use? Figure out your tire diameter vs your current setup and then you can decide how much drop you want.

Front tire size 245/30ZR20 Rear tire size 285/25 ZR20 is what I'll be using

Front 245/30/20 has a diameter of 25.8 inches vs stock 18's 245/40/18 diameter of 25.7 inches

Rear 285/25/20 is 25.6 inches vs stock 18 275/35/18 25.6 inches as well.

So both tire sets are near identical in overall diameter, so you can look at your existing fender gap and ask yourself how much lower do I want it.

2 most popular spring manufacturers are Eibach and H&R,

H&R sports are

Front Lowering -1.4"
Rear Lowering -1.3"

H&R race are

Front Lowering -2.0"
Rear Lowering -2.0"

I would never use the race springs on stock shocks, they will bottom out and be destroyed really fast.

Eibach Pro Kit 1.2 front and 1.2 rear

If you have Sport Suspension option, subtract 0.6 inches from the lowering amount. The given numbers were for non sport suspension.

My advice to you on springs: Don't.
Eventually springs usually cause the factory shocks to wear out and ride like shit. It may not be right away because some springs take months to settle.

If you are able to hold off a bit a save up the money for coilovers, i highly recommend it. I have BC Racing coilovers on mine and they're fully adjustable and the ride is just as comfortable as factory. I've done springs on previous cars and will never do it again. Good luck.

Yep save your money for coilovers. Only time I would rec lowering springs of any kind is if the shocks get replaced too with better ones like Koni's or Bilstiens.

I would say H&R Sport springs but save up for KW/ST Coilovers instead. If you still want springs, I have my old set of H&R Sport springs. They only have 10000 Miles on them. I am willing to sell them to you at a fair price.
