For local 550 or 650 6sp manual owners, Dinan is looking for a volunteer to complete their software upgrade. Looks like you'd need to give them your car (at the Morgan Hill facility) for a week.

Just saw this on their website and thought I'd pass it along.

Thanks for passing it along.

Talking about receiving "free stuff" from Dinan, I brought my car in for free flow exhaust design/test in exchange for a free flow exhaust from Dinan at no charge.
According to Dinan's engineer, it'd take 6-8 weeks for me to get it, but it's more than six weeks, and nothing on yet.
I called Dinan's engineer last week asking about the status and the first I answer I got was "don't know how the project goes" I'd recommend engineer should know the schedule very well . He told me that he'd call me back later that day, and he did and told me to check back this week, and hopefully thing should be done by Christmas
Cannot wait to get the free flow exhaust!
The thing is there is absolutely no paperwork from Dinan. My wife asked me if I trusted Dinan for not providing any paperwork. I told her that Dinan has been in business for more than 20 years and they should keep their promise, and not risking their reputation!

I'll call him up tomorrow again to see how it goes. Per Tony's advise, I'll have my rear bumper on once I have the free flow exhaust from Dinan!

What I try to say here is waiting for something for free would take you a lonnnnnng time and the wait is unbearable

I'm the new guinea pig ... dropped off my 550i 6MT at Dinan yesterday afternoon for it's one-week stay to get new engine management software. And who better to tell me the details of the programming than The Man himself, Steve Dinan. Once I got there, I was told to wait and a tech would be out to go over what they'll be doing to the car. So I sit down for a couple minutes reading a magazine and out comes Steve Dinan. It was like being in the presence of God. I wasn't expecting to meet Mr. Man himself! He assured me the car would be in good hands (obviously) and he told me to keep in touch with him throughout the week since he'd be the one to update me on how the programming goes. He even hinted at getting the new V8 throttle body installed while the car is there. It amazes me how passionate the Dinan crew is about BMWs. They're so serious about their clients that they gave me a ride home in Steve's own red 330i, complete with horde of Dinan mods. Can't wait to see the results next week!

You lucky bum!!! I remembered signing up a year ago to be their guinea pig but nothing ever came of it. Then I hear about my530i getting his car tested for a new Dinan exhaust and now you with the software... Lucky dawgs!!! Oh well, maybe they'll save the best for last and use my car for as a test bed for a supercharger or bigger displacement motor... I can dream can't I?? haha

BTW, did you get the info from my post? If so, maybe I'll hit them up for a referral bonus.

Oh well, I'm supposed to bring in my car Mon morning to get my software and a couple of things. We'll all be waiting for your feedback....
