Question

Just got back from Lake Erie yesterday
with the usual slow moving traffic bunched up every 10-15 miles.
The beauty of the the 545 is it's ability to accelerate so fast
I'm passing 3 to 4 cars at a time hitting 100 when merging back in.
I past a series of 3 cars and a semi when the
Valentine One kicked in 4 minutes later but with nothing in sight.
I cut back to 70 mph and finally saw a vehicle closing but no
alarm. He was at about 1000' and closing fast when the detector lit up with me doing 60.
Another 6 miles up the road is a Highway Patrol outpost - I'm thinking the truck drive called me in on an emergency CB which the Patrol monitors and some hot shot rookie jumped in
a cruiser to intercept me.
The 545 is also equipped with an Escort ZR3 Laser shifter - that I highly
recommend. It comes with two sensors for both sides of the front license plate, where most hits occur, and one back license plate mount.

Hi Vulcan747:

Travelling through Washington state you have the highway patrol buried in the center divider in all the bushes and trees

My V1 has paid for itself time-and-time again. BMW should have the V1 as an option when buying the car.

Happy Motoring.

I agree with your technology choice. I have a V1 and ZR3. They routinely save my behind. I just ordered a 550 with ED in September. I understand there is an interface to make my V1 display on my Nav screen. Anyone have experience with this?

Vulcan - would you please post a picture of how your ZR3 sensors are mounted in front. Also a picture of where you mounted the internal display module would help me with placement. I plan to install this right away when my 550 reaches home. The state police in Maryland are laser crazy. Thanx!!!

I have had mine for 3 months now, and it has saved me too many times to count.
It takes some time to get used to how early you get the warnings, but eventually it is second nature. You hear it, and you know how fast you have to react.

V1 has saved me many times.
Just this one time at night I got ahead of myself and passed all the cars.
Trooper turned his radar on as I passed him. It was pitch black. I was well over 100+ but he clocked me at 87 on a 70. After that I always make sure I do the following.

Driving from NYC to Florida, 90% of the troopers had their radars off.
Using a Radar requires experience and skill. You still have to keep a good eye out.

I hardly ever see radar set-up in California and I've always heard it is "limited" in use. I haven't had a ticket since I moved here over 20 yrs. ago, but maybe I've just been lucky and I ought to re-think this a bit. I almost bought V1 a few months ago and then sort of forgot about it. Do you get a lot of valid alarms on your V1? You know, actually see the trap later?

Vulcan, sounds like you might be near me, I'm in Columbus. Or maybe you're in Pittsburgh?
