2010 535xi Sport - Mod #2 - Rear Swaybar!
Well, I just installed an e60 M5 rear swaybar on my '10 535xi Sport! So, what's the difference! How about a 38.4% increase in anti-sway over the stock bar! That is,..if the stock bar is 13mm thick!
Would I recommend this to others? Yes,....in a NY heartbeat!!
Note: The M5 swaybar was sourced from an eBay vendor,....no affiliation.
Future Mods for my project car:
1) e60 M5 wheels (#166)
2) Larger FMIC
3) Larger Charge Pipe
4) Ditch the Stock Muffler (...currently have the "Flap" wired open,..there is a noticeable difference in the sound! It has a nice low tone Vrrrrrrrom now,...Like say,...BMWs from the '80s!
5) Rear decklid spoiler
6) Lower front bumper add-on chin spoiler! (..just a little something to give it a different look).
Prior to wiring the exhaust flap open,...the car was what I would consider "sewing machine fast" now there is "sound" to go with the "whoosh!"
Note, in case you're wondering what Mod #1 is,...it's an MHD Stage 1 tune!
I put the level of effort/difficulty for this mod at 1 or 3. It's straight forward and simple given the proper tools,....13mm boxed-end wrench,...13mm Socket/Rachet combo,...a boxed-end 18mm Wrench for the Large swaybar link to subframe "Bolt". You will need a "hex" type bit to keep the "swaybar bolt" from spinning once it has been loosened! Just look at the end of the "bolt",...it has a hole that looks like and "asterick" ( * ). The M5 swaybar I bought came with the proper bushing/bracket and the links,....and since it had the "links" already mounted, I just removed my stock rear swaybar and the links.
Fyi,..for the records,...the 535xi rear swaybar link looked to be 100% identical to the e60 M5 rear swaybar links!
Cheers,...

I have used the m5 rear sway bar, nice upgrade, I suggest you order the 18mm polyurethane purple bushings from ecs tuning sells! As for the front , unfortunately for the AWD seems we do not have an upgrade, I have ordered the polyurethane bushings for the front Swaybar but they did not fit the bracket and had to return them unfortunately...

Stock e60 535xi (25mm)
26.2mm e60 bar: 4.8% increase
28mm size bar: 12.00% increase
30mm size bar: 20.00% increase
One would definitely notice the 12% (28mm bar) and 30% (30mm bar) difference over the Stock bar's 25mm stiffness. Note, the reason we like the e60 M5's rear swaybar is because we instantly notice the 38.46% difference in anti-roll stiffness! That said, who wouldn't!

I don't think there would be much of a difference going from the stock 25mm Front Swaybar to,...say the 26.2mm M5 Front Swaybar. Now, if someone made a solid,..say 28mm or 30mm e60 535xi Front Swaybar,..I'd be all over it! As that would represent the following increase in anti-roll:
Stock e60 535xi (25mm)
26.2mm e60 bar: 4.8% increase
28mm size bar: 12.00% increase
30mm size bar: 20.00% increase
One would definitely notice the 12% (28mm bar) and 30% (30mm bar) difference over the Stock bar's 25mm stiffness. Note, the reason we like the e60 M5's rear swaybar is because we instantly notice the 38.46% difference in anti-roll stiffness! That said, who wouldn't!

Sir, that's nice, but I've seen pics of "hollow swaybars" bending/breaking, etc. Plus,..that kind of cash for a swaybar is not what I'd want to dish out especially for a hollow bar and double especial since I already have the 18mm rear swaybar from the M5!
But thank you all-the-same.

I ordered the Euro M5 Wagon Rear sway ( same as the M6 Convertible) for my E61LCI. It is larger than the M5 sway bar and bolts right up. I have 2 E61LCI wagons and can really tell the difference between the stock sway and the M5 Wagon sway. I highly recommend this upgrade. Go to REALOEM and search on parts for the M5 Wagon (Euro spec). J

Has anybody run the Dinan M5 M6 sway bars on the rear of an e61? The Dinan is a little bit cheaper than the oem M6 (20mm) bar, and slightly larger at 21mm diameter, plus it comes with the properly sized urethane bushings to mount up.
