I did not see big difference in the wheel or rim size, I think it is exagerated a bit as I have driven 18" for the test car and it was super comfortable, now I have 17" and I think it is perfect but then the 18" were also, one of my friend he has 19" and no bumpy at all.

Now I also tried on with 20" and no compromise, if you choose the best quality and no additional mods ( spacers, dropping it to the ground) it is like a "lexus" or even more a comfortable e60

So next year I am going for 20"s too.

Will there be a big difference in going from 17" to 18" or 19" in terms of appearance if I do not lower the car at all. I don't have the lowered sports suspension now. I think my tires look a little too small and I want the more attractive look of the wheels filling up the fenders, but I do not want to sacrifice ride comfort. The roads are just too bumpy here in Taiwan.

Can anyone point me to photos in the gallery or elsewhere where someone has added 19" wheels with standard suspension and it looks great. I always assumed that most people were dropping their rides, but isn't that where the ride quality is sacrificed?

Yup is so quiet in my car that I can heard myself breaths but the looks

The search for my rim continues....and in the mean time I am just enjoying the peace and quiet in a BMW (something only relates to Lexus' drivers)

If you have the 2005 std wheels they won't be the original std wheels will they? What do they look like? Please post a pic or type code.

Don't really understand what you mean by 2005 std wheels are the original std wheel.

Anyway I have the style 115 16" on my 523 currently.

I'm going to take an opposing point of view. I switched from the 18" sport wheels to 19" non run flats about a month ago. I put on Bridgestone RE750 tires. I think there is a rougher ride with the 19's. There is diffenitly more road noise, but that is probably due to my tire choice. I would not say the ride has improved, but the car's appearance has. I read the others here say that the ride improved with the change to non run flats before I changed wheels. In my experience this hasn't been the case. I'm happy with the changes I made, But don't expect any great improvement in ride quality.

Just upgraded from 17? runflats (Dunlop) to 19? non-runfalts (Pirelli PZero). Same noise level and slightly rougher ride. The steering precision is only slightly improved; to me it does not feel a lot sharper. The most significant difference was the increased sensitivity towards lengthwise uneven pavement (Spurrilen), caused by heavy traffic and spike tires. In these situations you really have to fight with the steering wheels to get the car to drive in a straight line. I don?t know if this has to do with the lower profile or goring from 245 to 275 on the rear wheels. Moreover, I feel that the steering wheel and car tends to vibrate, it is hardly detectable but definitely there ? Any one else who has experienced this? Yes the wheels are balanced and are original type 172.

I have the 172 wheels with Michelin PS2's & definitely no steering wheel vibration. Did you watch them whilst they were balancing the wheels?

I have had a case before where this happened to me, now I watch the guys like a hawk whilst they balance the wheels. They had obviously been in a hurry & not taken the time to get it absolutely spot on!

I mean the 134's which were fitted from 2003. The 115's look great for std wheels. Please post a pic of your car.

Could someone please tell how much my ride is going to deteriorate by going to 19" wheels from my 18" wheels.? ?? I also will be going from runflats to non-runflats...? Could use your advise.? This is a great forum!

Don't forget about the possibility of saving unsprunk weight--maybe the equivalent of 13+ flywheel equivalent horsepower--when going to 19" wheels. Check out the Mind Candy ... here.

Thats 'tramlining' and wider lower profile tyres are more susceptable to it. The tyres follow ruts and channels in the road.

Also, the bigger the wheel the worse the ride gets. You've gone from 17" to 19".
Had u gone with 19" run-flats it would have been interesting to see what the difference was. The harshness added by the extra 2" wheel diameter is nearly off-set by running with non-run flats. The fact that you have the same noise level means that a 17" run-flat generated the same noise as a 19" non-run flat ( I assume they are wider tyres as well.)
