Hello everyone,

I?ve got my 545 last Saturday, my 3 ? months wait is over.
The car was built with 17-inch wheels, however since this is 6-speed manual it supposed to come with 18-inch wheels. The dealer has contacted BMW NA, and they will be ordering 18-inch wheels for me. Now I have a dilemma ? should I stick with 17-inch wheels, or go for 18-inch wheels? What are the cons and pros?

Your suggestions will be really appreciated.

TIA

Without a doubt get the 18" wheels. Just make sure you don't get the Dunlop SP Sport/Runflats. There are quite a few threads on this forum that document the problems/complaints. Good luck and welcome aboard!

Absolutely agree. The larger wheels will give you better steering response, and will not affect the ride quality. DO NOT get the Dulop runflats.

18"! They match the car MUCH MUCH better... 17"s looks too small for the wheel well... and initially in 2004 when they had 16" OMG what were they thinking?

the E60 body I think might look best in 19s

Welcome to the forum and congratulation,DCRCP!

I wud get 18"wheels for summer and keep the 17" rims for winter (smaller size recommeded for traction).

All,

Thank you very much for all your advices and welcoming me aboard!
I definitely will get 18-inches now.

When I asked the dealer about Dunlop tires, he said that he is not aware of any issues with Dunlop. I asked him to give me Bridgestone and not Dunlop, but he said that it is up to BMW NA and he even does not know what tires will be on new wheels when they are delivered.
I am not sure if I have much leverage at this point to have BMW NA to provide anything else but Dunlop.

Thanks again!

P.S. I do not need winter tires ? I am in California.
Plus I do not know if they would allow me to keep original 17-inch wheels.

I don't quite understand. You mean the factory placed the wrong size wheels on the car during assembly?

Good question. Are you sure you have the sports package?

I only use the 17" setup for winter use.
The 18"'s are both good lookers and comfortable.
