Why is the area below the DVD slot not wood/aluminum like in regular E

My Ride: '05 545i - scheduled for ED pickup in Munich on 7/22!
Is it leather if you get full leather and plastic if you don't get full leather?
EDIT: Title should say "regular E60", the 60 got cut off

Good question--the same goes for the panel on the rear of the center arm rest console, except it's always plastic, even with full leather:
