I'm wondering where everyone gets their 10w-60 oil from. I can't seem to find it at any auto parts stores. Also, is it required to use this exact oil in an E60 M5? Or can another more common type be used? Thanks!

Thanks for the advice guys. I called the dealership and it seems like they're the only place around that has it anyway. I'll just plan on picking up a case for use in between full oil changes.

Your car will burn through a quart or so between oil changes depending on how hard you drive it. Its normal for an M5 to have top up periodically.

The stuff is not cheap (castrol synthetic), but i buy by the case and it has lasted me over 2 years.

Hope your enjoying your beast!

Anyone order the Liqui Moly Race Tech GT1 oil from Bavauto? Its 8.95 a liter or 39.95 for a 5 liter seems pretty reasonable..

I just use Castrol 10W-60 from the dealership. Usually they give you a discount and sell it at $12.50 per bottle. They also sell $5 cases that velcro onto the side of your trunk liner. I used to keep 1 bottle in my trunk at all times but after running low during a long trip from NorCal to Vegas, I keep 2-3 now just in case. Gives you some padding in case you're feeling like procrastinating

You don't need all 3 cases John, so give me one.

OP, why don't you check with Garry Romani of BMW of Newport to see if how much the oil is with the 25% discount he gives to forum members? Or if you are a BMWCCA member, your dealer should give you 10% off.
