Default What am I getting myself into if I get a 2008 m5?

I'm looking at a 2008 m5 that has about 100,000 km (about 60K miles), and they are asking $45K (bmw dealership).

Seeing as the dealership is selling it, it is 'certified' and I am assuing that means it is in pretty decent condition.

In terms of maintainence etc., should I be expecting to pay $2k/year in servicing this vehicle? Are there certain lemon years I should know about?

I appreciate the brutal honest truth

Look in to the state of the SMG and clutch. Heard this can be costly to repair if you get the red cog of death.

$45k seems a bit high. I picked up an 08 for $41k with only 34,000 miles on it.

My friend too much money ... I wouldn't pay that much money for that car . Do a little research before buying and one quick advise !!! When buying a car at a dealer always go with your mind set on a price you want to spend . No matter what they offer you don't give in stand your ground tell them you are going to another dealer . Also the most important step is always go at the end of the month to the dealer why ? Cause that's when they move the cars to another dealer when they don't sell . So they ain't going to let the car go for, nothing . Hope you get the point . Much luck .

Get to know the available options for the e60 M5.
I paid $36k for my '08 and it had about 60k miles. I really liked the color combo, the rear sun shades, convenient access, and soft close doors. I would have paid more if it had the Alcantara headliner, the full leather, or the air conditioned seats (mine are heated only).

A "Certified" 2008 car will have a warranty that expires in 2014 (so it's not warrantied for very long), and it DOES seem pretty expensive too! Good luck with your decision!

Granted he is in Canada, so the prices may be different from US.
