After many months of reading your comments and thoughts i've gone and done it. Today is the 25th march 2007 and on Wednesday i take delivery of my M5......Oh god i can't wait!!!....But how in gods name do you not use the M button for 1200 miles??
Whats the deal with the 1200 mile service as my dealer is having babies about booking the car back in to have the service done as they say if you pass the 1200 mile mark without doing it then NO BMW dealer in the UK can resale the car.
I'm 41 years old but feel like i'm 18 going on my first date!!!!

The break-in period is a pain in the *$S but it is real necessary for the M engines ...

What color do you choose?

PS: You will love the car...

Silverstone II with Extended black upholstery, M-Multi seats, ISOFIX (8 year old daughter), High beam assist, BMW assist, Extended voice control, Bluetooth with telematics and Sun protection glass.

Currently have 2001 E39 M5 and love it however had 2002 M3 before and loved the SMG box.

The dealer says it's ok to do the 1200 service at 300/400 miles?? is that right? What get's done at the service?

for all engines that is important to brake in, exactly like on your first date, determined but nicely and gently, then post HIGH RES pictures and enjoy

From my experience with my previous M3 - Make sure you are close to getting the service done at 1200 miles... It will hurt the residual if this service isn't performed and documented at 1200 +/- say 300 miles.

Enjoy the ride!
