Just been to the States (Florida) from the UK. The speed limit there seem to really slow. 65MPH for 4-5 lane highways and sometimes with few cars on the road. There are lots of tolls and the limits goes down to 55MPH. Some smaller roads have speed limit of 15 & 35! Here in the UK the highways are 70MPH and most go at 80MPH. How do you US guys justify getting a M car which is capable of 100MPH in 3rd gear? I stuggle to keep mine at 80 in the uk .

For me the 5+ seconds it takes to get to the speed limit is half the fun...specially if the on ramp is twisty! Maybe in M5 its the less than 5 seconds is the thrill.

Max limits vary for each state. North Carolina does have a good bit of 70mph roads out side of city limits. Most folks run 5-10 over so 75-80 is common enough and you won't get a ticket. In the west where its even more open, there are a lot of 70 mph highways and a few areas with higher limits (I think).

I do agree with your point, even 80 seems a waste for an ///M. But I still would have one....

The roads in NYC is even worst from memory. Road works and pot holes. Maybe i have been to the wrong parts of NYC. Also cops everywhere.
