Opportunity to buy M5 (need opinions)

I am new to this forum but have monitored it for the last year. A terrific source of info, thanks. I currently own an 05' 545. I am in the military and have the opportunity to buy an M5 through military sales for 73k plus 1,100 for shipping and import taxes. I would also not have to wait on it, the sales company is in Germany and they have a slot for production at any time. I bought my 545 through this service with good results. My question is, is this an opportunity that should not be passed up. I have serched around on the net and have not found any prices for someone walking in the dealership and buying or how long they would have to wait on it. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Attached is M5 pricing (invoice and MSRP). $73K for a base M5 is just under invoice, so with shipping & import tax, you're right at invoice.
You will not get anywhere near that price at a US dealer. You can get one at MSRP in a relatively short time frame, but heavy discounting hasn't started yet.

Just get what u really need and will use everday, as the dealers will want you to buy other stuffs (eg comfort access for what we can use the remote)...buy a nice ///M5 and post pix, Sir.

Question is, what kind of car do you get for that price? A worldwide version with 1 yr warranty and limited service, or a US version with US warranty and service? I think I know the answer, and it's probably OK if you plan on keping it a long time, or selling it before you leave the continent. Just better make sure what you're getting.

Well, being in the military myself and about to deploy to Iraq in a few months, I have to say that you have a sweet deal. I was actually going to do something the same thing while I am out there. But instead of an M5 I will be looking at an 07 550. If you don't mind the sidetrack, what branch are you in?
To everyone else;
The Military Car Sales offers US Spec vehicles just as you would from your local BMW dealer. So the only thing you have to worry about is the delivery time. You just hope that it is there when you get back from wherever in the world you are. It is an OK way for service members and diplomats to save money on buying some foreign vehicles.

FYI, I have an M5, and an order on an M5 through the same program. I am selling my current M5 when the car comes in next month. I already did my time in the box. The M5 is one of the only cars I would do it with because you can't go wrong or get a better deal anywhere in the world. I am even ordering an M6 and cosidering selling my 911. They sell you a stock, US spec vehicle, and for about 2k more, can ship it directly to your US dealer of choice (if you are not stationed in Europe, this is the only option). The euro delivery program is just about as good, and you also get the BMW CCA rebate ability, so if I was doing any BMW other than an M, euro delivery is the way to go. You can bargain your dealer down to the same price, not have to pay 2k to ship it, and get the rebate. Any other questions, feel free to ask.

PS - you can't do euro delivery on an M, so like I mentioned, this is a phenomenal program. Only thing I ask is that you don't buy it for the sole purpose of selling it right after, as it violates the terms of the program, and could put an end to it. Hate to see someone screw it up for all of us. Thanks...
