My Ride: e60 M5
Thumbs up

Hey! Planning on getting new rims for my e60 M5 and wonders how much bacspace is allowed in front and in the back on theese cars? Can I run 10" in the front and 11" in the back with offsets that fills out as much as possible? What offsets will be perfect on this car with 10" and 11" rims? They will be in 20" diameter btw...

Thanx for any input!

Have watched the thread about rims for e60 but few m5's with offsets specs and without spacers... Don't want spacers. Will order forged wheels

im trying to sort out the exact same question, but havent had much response yet.

i suggest 10 is too wide for the front. 9 or 9.5 is max advisable. for the rear, while 11s will fit, theres jack all tyres that will suit without breaking the bank.. there doesnt seem to be much point running a 285-295 on a 11in rim.

I am most likely going to run a 20x9 front and 20x10.5 rear... still unsure of the offset yet

I dont know how much space is between the rim and strut on the factory setup. but i do know the stock wheels are

8.5X19 ET:12
9.5x19 ET:28

if someone can measure teh gap between the stock rim inner and strut, and stock rim outer and guard, then we can calculate the ideal offset.

I posted a similar thread here: http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60...ffset-20s.html

you may have some luck there.

Hey!

Thanx for replying!
I have 245 winter-tires on the stock rims, but can try to mount them and take some measures when I got the time to do it. I have 8,5" in front for the moment and 10" in the back with offset 15 in front and 25 in the back. In the back it seems ok, even if I actually have a little space left before the rims flush the fenders. In the front the rims are way to far into the fender... probably needs 1" to 2" spacers. I will make them find out of that at the workshop soon so when they are spaced out enough I will know witch offsets are the right one for 8,5" wide rims. Then it's just calculation if youre going for a wider rim.

So you would not reccomend buying 10" width for the front? It was one on M5board-forum that had 10" in front and 11" in the back, but he would not tell me witch offsets where used... Showroom motorsport i think...

Edit: found the thread: http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60...en-forged.html

Looks like a really nice setup!
