That's too bad the guy was a butthead. Most M5er's I know are good guys - not trying to impress people with their car (like some brands we know). I always welcome and exchange thumbs-up to a fellow car enthusiast no matter what he's driving.
hey Wolf, how is your beast, is she cured just read there... hope better soon!

How rude of them not to pay attention to you, shame on them. You spent all your hard-earned money on a great car, a 525, and they look at you as If you are nothing, a mere amateur at the game of life, Those arrogant bast**ds. What hapenned? We all joined the club, didn't we? From the 320 to M6, aren't we one big happy BMW family?

They looked at you like you drove a crappy car? How could you tell? Did they make that face after you just ate wasabi for the first time , or was it the one when they ran out of grey poupoun. pity!
Well. perhaps you shouldn't care about other drivers.

Last night I stopped at a light next to a Ferrerari and I knew he was looking at me, revving the engine. I let him go and instead enjoyed the music and the pleasure of the beatiful girl sitting beside (astride) me.

Judge not ye be judged, or something like that.

Sometimes when you make a statement about someone else it is a complex reflection of your perceived inadequacies versus a desire you have, whether it is emotional or materialistic. Perhaps you only think M5 drivers are assholes because you would really want an M5, but can't have one right now for whatever reason, and then feel that M5 drivers are purposely mocking you, bringing out feelings of hostility only your mother could resolve.

Or perhaps I am just one of those arrogant M5 drivers.

P.S. In all honesty when I come up to another 5 series and they seemed willing, we would give each other the thumbs up. It was just an acknowlegement that we recognized that we both love BMWs and are fans of the car. Maybe next time just wave and acknowlege his cool car, it's the cool thing to do.

That's the spirit! Driving an e60 M5 doesn't give us right for being arrogant to other motorist. We should be thankful that we are blessed with a bimmer, and should respect other motorist :-)

Just an extra thought on Bill Gates. Not sure if he still has it, but when I was working at MS in 1999 he had an LS400, bullet-proofed, that he used to commute from home to the office. It was the ONLY asset that Microsoft actually owned that BillG used personally. Otherwise, he keeps his personal assets completely separated. Doesn't even want a hint of impropriety commingling company vs. personal. Heard he and Steve Balmer bought 959s, and had to leave them at the port in San Diego when they tried importing them. I guess they used them on a track a few times. Never heard about getting Clinton to pass a bill that allowed them to be street legal though, but that would be nice. Can you imagine crashing a few of a 230-car limited production just to pass USA safety specs?

They didn't crash any of them, Bill put together a computer program that simulated what would happen in the event of a crash. Apparently the car held up well enough that he is now able to drive it.

If I owned an M5 I think I would not be a dick about it but I would be flooring the gas pedal at every single redlight there is Since I own a 530 I dont get intimidated by seeing M5 guys near me, instead I get excited and give them a thumbs up and a smile. I dont think its dick by having an m5 owner pealing out bad next to a 525. Sounds like someone just wants an m5
