Hi Cidair. I am just curious. Given your experience driving the M5 for some time now, if you were to buy an M car again (discounting the fact that you already have one), would you buy the M5 or the M6?
The reason why I am asking is because I already have a 545 and am considering an M. The possibility of me keeping the 545 after the purchase is very low, almost negligible. Many have told me that the M6 is such a wonderful car, much better than the M5 and that the choice is obvious. The pricing for the M6 is not out yet, but I am told it will cost approx USD 36000.00 more than the M5.

The M6 has slightly better performance but in all other aspects I think the M5 is a much better car.
It?s just perfect for me.
An allround car that you can use as a daily drive ( not the M6 with kids and shopping ). When you like you can go to a racetrack or you can humiliate some porsches and ferraris
The M5 was the logical choice for me, having owned the E39 M5, and switching from the 545 to something more powerful.

Did some " last minute " action today, before changing the rear tyres on friday.
P500sport,DSC off, S6, EDC normal, dry road, +25 deg C, no Launch Control.
Off we go : standing still on even road and just nailing the throttle - a few meters of grip and then spinning wheels in 1st gear to 8250 rpm, spinning wheels in 2nd gear to 8250 rpm 3rd gear halfways to the rpm limit and the finally some grip.
Totally insane car, just burning rubber like it was melting ice or something
Tried to do it again and this time moderating the throttle - was able to get grip halfways through 1st gear. You really have to be quick on the throttle movements, because it revs up so quickly and gives you very little time to adjust your input. Then lost grip again in 2nd gear.
This takes some training!

Hi Cidair. Still mulling over my choice between the M5 and M6. Awaiting for the pricing and specs of the M6 before making my decision.
Seems like you're having a ball of a time there.
How is the petrol consumption compared to your previous 545? My opinion is that it should be better during normal driving since you've got more horses pulling the same weight. Also, does the dash come in leather or do you have to specifically pay more for it?

Hi,
the leather on the dash is a very expensive extra ( 10.000 USD in Sweden!!! ).
Fuel consumption is actually around 14.5 L / 100 km in mixed normal driving.
So the M5 is impossible to get down to the low figures of the 545.

What an improvement over the OEM suspension. Much sportier and even better steering response!
