The e63 amg

finally got my hands on this issue of autocar

0-62mph (tested may 17th)
m5: 4.6s
e64: 4.3s

0-124mph (tested june 11th)
m5: 12.4s
e63: 12.1s

they also state

"The E63 Speed sensitive steering has meatier weighting and more feel than an m5's, and with the aid of traction electronics the E63 can make quite ludicrously rapid progress on twisty roads"

Anyways here a picture i took with my phone , as my scanner is not working... apologies but hopefully you should just make out the time from 0-62

could some uk members scan that issue of autocar?

Cool, E63 AMG probably will be our next--keeping the Z06 and having only two cars.

We'll see in the future where more tests are reveald. Both straight line performance from the 2 and well...call me biased or whatever...track performance. We'll see if the ring taxi becomes an E63 or not Right...returing to more serious stuff like i was saying, we'll see the lap times the amg will record on nurburgring, hopefully hockenheim, why not TG test track and many others. It seems it's a tie now. Untill now i saw only 2 comparos and i'm not quite willingly to draw conclusions. It's the most sensible and the most mature way to consider.

I agree & will wait for more tests.

Me thinks it will be very close & the E63 being a worthy competitior, but knowing Mercs fairly well & the AMG monsters, i'd still rather throw my M5 around a track in anger than pretty much any AMG offering.

Speed is far from being the only deciding factor on what cars performance is greater. Straight line top speed & 0-60 is only 25% of the picture, as braking, chassis & handling make up a much bigger part, plus of course driver ability. I know that with my DMS upgrade a standard E63 is NOT going to take me on the 0-60 or top speed (a modified E63 perhaps could) but i'd bet that i can get my car round almost any track quicker than an E63

Very encouraging to hear they've improved the steering feel. Can somebody scan the article?

Right, and the M5 should do very well on the track against the 63.

Many don't get that or are not interested and quickly call that is a better car just because they are interested about straight line ability. There is way more asa you said than just speed. Brake-fade free brakes, stopping power, the steering response, the pedal response both brake pedal and accelerator like brake travel and resistnace and throttle response, chassis, handling, suspension set-up, gearbox performance and sooo many more little things that make the difference after all.

About the last statement i hope you get the car in S6 w8pmc that means DSC off as you well know
