Hi Guys,
I have a 2008 535xi touring with 6spd manual. I would like to in the future swap the M5 engine, suspension, and wiring harness into it. Can anyone advice me on whats involved and how hard and expensive this might be. Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Andy

The XI part will be the problem. I am not sure the drive train could take all the power. I am sure that a non XI it would be possable, though anything is possable with enough money.
A good idea though.

It probably would be cheaper to get an M5 touring from Europe, but here's what I'm thinking: ...
Right now I have the Dinan Stage II, and I'm happy with it. I will purchase the car out at the end of the lease, and keep it. The Engine (or anything else that will blow first) will last me around 200,000 - 300,000km of use. By that time I will have all the parts necessary to swap for a brand new M5 everything. I would also like to install the 5.7L Dinan V10 instead of the regular 5.0L and make this car fast as hell. I realize that the "xi" part is a problem, hence, I plan on swapping the suspension (including the rear air suspension) parts from driveshaft outwards including the brakes, rims, etc. This will now be a 2WD car, not the "xi".
The thing is, I got the car just the way I wanted it from the factory (special order) and I will upgrade little things like stereo, back-up camera, etc. So my when my engine goes, I would like to "build" my M5 on the platform that I have right now.

Look budd, I'm not looking for your opinion on whether its stupid, or what I should buy instead. All I've asked for is how complicated this swap will get. I was wondering if I needed to swap ECU, wiring harness, driveshafts, and many more things. What I do with my car is my business, and mine alone, and I am not asking you if it is "stoopid" or not. If you can't give me that answer then don't reply.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Its not worth it. Just get a m5. Its easier to buy a m5 and make it awd then make a m5 fit in a 535xi. Not to mention it will cost more than if you just got a used m5.
