Bad news from my dealer!

M5 production is STOPPED!

First cars to be produced in feb -05. Those cars will be demo cars for the dealers, not for customers.

First customer cars will probably start to be produced in march / april -05. :'(

If you put down an order today - production in sept -05?!

Must be a big reconstruction of the gearbox or electronics?

Very costly for BMW M.

Latest iside info from BMW:

It?s not only a problem with the gearbox - there have been several engine breakdowns, probably due to too high rev limiter ( above 8250 rpm )!!!

Oops!

I hope they don't lower the revlimiter.. The sound at WOT and 8000 rpm will be great.. I really need to hear that in real life!!! I think it will sound awesome whoohooo..

Agree!

Otherwise we will see the M3 E46 engine breakdown history repeating itself.

High revv engine usually does not last long. Just think of motorcycle. It has low torque, so it needs to rev up high all the way to 10000rpm. A 30000mi motorcycle is equivalent to a 100Kmiles car.
