Really how do you afford one???
I don't think there is to many jobs paying you six plus figures over there(US Dollars). Just think in the US how much money you'd need to make to afford one if we had taxes like that. You'd see about as many 5 series as Lamborgini's rolling around. I think honestly you'd have to make at least 150K a year to even start to think about owning one.
Even in Europe the tax is quite high. I'm sure some of are European people will chime in about added taxes. Even there you got to have one hell of a good job to afford one, more less to put gas in it.
My mind is spinning

We pay that kind of money down here for the beast too....they are about AUD 250K on road (i was gonna convert AUD to USD but we are nearly one to one, never thought i would see that day). Luxury cars are heavily taxed in OZ and our new government just increased the tax again in their first budget......pricks!!!!

i used to live in Cairo (Dad worked for the DoD), and to ship a car either the company you work for has to 'sponsor' it or whatever as 'duty free', and the parameters were that you had to take it back with you when you left, unless you sold it to another ex-pat that could 'sponsor' the duty free status of it.
the duty cost was like 300% back in the mid 90's. Insanity.

A normal car would be Lancia, Fiat, Golf's, Hyundai's, etc from what I remember when I lived there. that of course was the 90's.

In Malaysia, the M5 is RM900,000.00 = US$285,000.00...on top of that, the yearly road tax is RM11,+++.00 = US$3,600.00!!!!!
Even my car was bought at RM4xx,xxx.00 = US$12x,xxx.00.
