Just normal driving, used "M" button 2 or 3 times but rest of time just cruising around in "D2 400

mmmmm... No. The E60 M5 does not get 18 to 19 mpg in 'normal driving'. Sounds like your computer computed mpg is off.

how are you guys getting those kind of gas mileage?
My last tank has improved to about 11 mpg. But I am no where close to 17 to 19 range.
Also my 11 mpg is achieved with about 60% highway driving.
Majority of time i am in P400, S4 mode and up shift between 3k to 5k RPM.
BTW, the break in should be done with variation of RPM less than 5k right?

If you?re going to get the consumption down, you have to THINK low consuption all the time you drive. Use all the skills and tricks there is to lower the cons. Otherwise your at the 10 - 11 mpg I think.
