Surfing on the web (it is holiday time) I found the photos of this M5 crashed somewhere in the States.
I am so sorry for the driver but hope insurance would pay back the car.
The explanation of the crash is the following: "Dog ran out in front of car while going around a curve. Driver sacrificed the car in exchange for dog's life"
Very kind of him.

I'm a lover of animals like the next person (not in that way), however if the choice was hit dog or total M5, i'm afraid the woof woof would have to say it's prayers.

My Ride: ED '07 530 soon to replace my ML500
previous: '00 540i6, '98 V70T-5, '95 318i, '89 Jetta, '79 Beetle Conv.
I would have hit the dog, no question.
A dog already almost took my life and totaled another BMW I had (R1100R).
I could have hit a car or hit the dog, and I took him out...

Every driver should know that when going rather fast, its better to just hold the steering wheel tight to keep control and hit the object then trying to maneuver your car and lose control. Especially when its a dog, first of all, you're wasting your car, second of all, you're risking your life. Weight out your life and a dog's life, your choice...

Everybody that's speeding and crash their car always tends to tell the cops that a dog ran in front of the car and had to swerve !!

IMO that's a lie and the m5 totaled is because smth else (excesive speeding, loosing control, driver error or whatever).

Hmmm not sure i agree. IMHO it's just a matter of self-control and self-knowing. If exactly in those conditions you know you can avoid it without causing havoc, then try to. If it's almost impossible to avoid then just hold on tight as you said. It's just a matter of some tenths of a second where YOU have to decide. And do whatever you do but DON'T look at the obstacle then it's bye bye (target fixation).

I agree with you
Thou, it's never nice to see a good looking car like that!
