Why would anyone want a heated steering wheel?? Are the heated seats not enough?? Surely if you had a heated wheel, you'd need a heated door handle, heated seat-belt, heated SMG paddles & stick & heated wiper & indicator stalks.

We're in a cold snap & i can't say the steering wheel is uncomfortably cold to the touch.

There are days here in the midwestern USA where a heated wheel wouldnt be a bad thing.

I had a loaner X5 from the dealer last winter, and while it was a novel feature, I cant say that I cared either way that my car did not have such an accessory.

But with all things, its all relative.

My law partner has heated seats in his Lexus, but never uses them.

To each his own, I say.......

Cheers.

The heated steering wheel is the only thing I miss from my 545. It is absolutely a terrific thing on cold winter mornings, and no, the heated seats don't do anything for your hands. I don't know why the M5 doesn't offer it - makes absolutely no sense to me. If there is any way to 'retro fit' this feature, I would consider it.

The heated wheel is one of those things that, once you have one, you wonder how you ever got along without one.

I had one on my 1998 E39 but then it wasn't available on my 2001 E39's sport steering wheel. I was very happy to get it back again on my 2004 E60.

(and yes, I've wished for heated SMG paddles... )

Either you don't live in a cold area or have never had one...
