Actually this was not at a meet. It just happens to be one of the pictures taken of a conversion. This is a 525i e61 touring converted to look like an M5 touring. It was built by Studie AG of Japan.

Sweet! so what did they do? actually put on M5 side fenders? Cuz they have the side vents AND they are using a real M5 bumper it looks. and the M5 bumper is wider and wont fit regular E60 / 61 production cars.

Yeah, it's crazy.
They must have done some major work to the chasis to get these pieces to fit together.
Honestly, at the time I saw the picture, I thought THIS was the first real pictures of the M5 touring and had to have this as my avatar! I found out only later that it's all fake.

Here's a link: Studie AG

These pictures appear to be a real M5 touring. Notice that the side view mirrors are not the M5 mirrors, however, and that the plate number is the same for all three pictures. The first picture is a test run at the Nurburgring.

Oh ya. I've seen those pics... I'm pretty sure there is a M5 touring too... But as for the number plate... if its anything like the US... ALL BMW test cars run the exact same plate here. Seen M5 and M6s out of the Oxnard VDC in California with the same plate on both cars.

The same plate on all cars? That's funny, but not surprising. It's funny because theoretically, the number is suppose to be registered to one car. Taking it off and putting on another is James Bond style.

You're in Oxnard? I love going to the Camarillo outlet and surfing Port Hueneme, but that was a long time ago.

Yep. The M5 Touring. The side gills are taped up and the mirrors are allways the regular mirrors during testing. Just at the very end of the testing they have the correct mirrors.

Nope. Each car has to have its own individual license plate here, even the test cars!
