Thinking about dumping the 545 and moving on up. So im looking at a 2006 M5 with 27k miles. 2 owners no mods expect tinted windows and black oem 166's. Just wondering things I should be looking out for. The cars out of state and driving it before buying is not going to happen. I plan on calling BMW and seeing if its CPO'd and what work has been done to it already. Also wondering about people who have extended warranties ( how much they cost, if they cover the SMG set up etc..) Any help would really be appreciated ! thanks guys

2006 M5s have had SMG issues. I am not a M5 owner so I am not that knowledgeable about the details. I don't buy used but I think that a 06 is at the edge of what can be CPOed. 27k mies is quite low. You should be able to get a great deal as early year E60 M5s are very affordable. I wouldn't touch one without some kind of extended warranty.

I have 06 M5 SMG and have had no issues whatsoever with it..

Has the car been maintained through BMW?

Extended Warranty first! Mods after! But scoops and pully are first on the list! Going to fly to Jersey and pick her up this week! Here's a teaser pic! First thing I do when i get home is install some black grills!

Congrats! Coincidentally there's a new member on M5Board that just got pretty much the exact same looking car with black OEM wheels. Thought it was you but he's in Newport Beach and you're in NY. haha
