A lady needs help from u guys !!!
hi guys I am new to site and I have a 2006 E60 M5 with 100,888 miles and i need ur help. Today I got the increased emissions / reduced power warning, car started with rough idle about two weeks ago but today it was bad it would drop below 500rpms but go back up. I could also feel the car surge while driving, other than today even with rough idle car still drove great. I pulled into a store today and the warning came on and power dropped. I let car set and restarted it and it was gone but I didn't know if I can still drive it cause I am 3hrs from home. the nearest BMW place is that far away also. I need help asap cause I dont know what to do...don't want to hurt car by driving it. My husband posted on here awhile back about oil dropping but he didn't know it drops after awhile he is a Mustang guy not BMW. I am 3rd owner of this car and I know the oil was changed every 7000 miles til i got it, using about 1liter every 1500 miles. I also noticed since the rough idle started way back that if I get into it hard it makes a spark knock sound but today when I went to get on to the highway the sound was like a chain hitting metal sound. I NEED HELP GUYS !!!!!

WIsh I could help, however I do not own an M5. The M5 Section of this site is pretty dead. Have you tried over on M5Board.com? I'm sure you would get more assistance there. I hope you get everything sorted out. Good luck!

Does the rough idle happen after you leave a gas station or when you put gas in the car? Mine had an issue where a check valve failed and was causing fuel to go directly to the engine when I filled it up. I had to start the car and rev it high right away to make sure to blow all that fuel out.
