After enjoying my 545 for the last 19 months, I have to say I wanted more.

The M5 is the car of my dreams, and I have always wanted one.

I saw an M5 at BMW Toronto that was stunning. It was a display model at BMW headquarters in Canada that they just decided to sell. It has 70 km on it, and looks gorgeous. It's Silverstone with Black interior.

I was able to get out of my lease with no penalty.

I can't wait to drive it. I better start saving up for some gas money. (22 km/100L!)

I will give more details and pictures soon.

Congrats you son of a . Sorry, envy is a horrible thing.

My Ride: 2006 BMW M5, Silverstone with black extended leather, brushed aluminium trim, Nav Pro, Logic 7, PDC, 35 % tint.

Thanks to everyone replies, I absolutely love my M5.

Sorry I have not been able to post pics; I dropped and broke my digital camera. I have been too busy to get a new one as I've been spending all my free time with my car.

The car is Silverstone with a black interior with brushed aluminium trim, I think it looks stunning. The colour changes in the light, from having a slight greenish tinge (almost like Artic Silver Metallic) in the shade, to Silver under the sun and almost white in direct artificial light. I have put on 35 % tint, and I have a clear bra that was dealer installed, but they only did the top of the hood. My salesman said they don't like to do the plastic bits because it is flexible and the clear bra may come off in parts.

I spent the weekend washing my car with Meguire's car shampoo, and then I rejex'ed the car. It looks great. I have been fanatical about using bug and tar remover every day; I hope it doesn't ruin the paint. Also, keeping the rims clean is a real chore.

The engine is great, but I am having a lot of difficulty breaking in the car. It's just going to be too hard to be gentle for the next month, but I'll have to try, because I want to keep this baby for a long time.

I really love this more than my 545. I think the design of the front, side skirts and rear is perfect. On a side note, the iDrive works a lot better than on my old car. It is a lot faster, the Nav is better (2006 disc, I believe) and it has RDS and an AUX ipod port. The logic 7 sound is also a lot better.

The sports seats are perfect for finding a comfortable position and the ergonomics are great.

On a side note I did test drive the 911 (997) before I got this car and I think the M5 is a lot better. It is a better daily driver, and it is more luxurious. I found the interior plastics of the 911 cheap-looking, and while it handles better than my M5, I found that for a day to day blend of sportiness, shear refined power, and luxury, there is no better car than the M5.

It puts a smile on me everday.

Cheers.

Congrats! Yes, the break-in period is hell. Once you're past the break-in, you won't believe the difference in the car. It really takes the entire break-in to loosen up, but when it does, watch out! The SMG will take youi a while to get used to also. You'll have a blast using S6 with DSC off. If you really want to get close to the 911 in handling, check out new wheels/tires and the H&R springs - unbelievable difference!

Good decision - I did the same thing - went from a 545 to the M5, and I've never regretted it!
