What's wrong with red??? It's pretty obvious from my sig which car you KNOW you really want to get! If you do decide on an M5, be prepared to visit your favorite gasoline (er, petrol) station more often than before!
i'm sure in your country the red is gorgeous, it certainly looks it from your pics. it's just not a colour you'd find people owning over here, that and white too. for purposes of resale, i'd also be cautious of anything out of the ordinary.

i'm in the UK, and bgt an LCI (57 plate) model. only had 1k on the clock and I got a cracking price on it (list 72k, 3 weeks later i buy it for ?60k).
i personally like the fact i have an LCI model with the updated interior, updated lights, and propper USB/Audio interface which works brilliantly.

oh and yes, it DOES attract coins/keys as I sadly found out y'day

it DOESN'T attract attention from police anymore than my previous E60 sport. Though i do seem to get "challenged" a lot more from boy racers!! (gimme a break)

fuel is an absolute SHOCKER! be warned.
if that doesn't bother you (it doesn't me), then it's simply the best car i've ever owned. NEVER fails to slap a smile across my face. you just can not help but have a heavy right foot with this car.

M5's the way to go!!!

Sadly your right about the "coins, keys" thing, it seems there are a lot of jealous a***holes about. But the same could be said of owning anything nice.
I make sure i park my toys in as safe a place as possible, under street lights, under cctv cameras, pay the extra to park in secure car parks or better still my garage at home!!!

Go for it!

Well, decision made and the head has won!

I've done some soul-searching and some number-crunching and decided that my 530D is staying in my drive - it's a great car and my other half is very attached to "Hippo" as she calls it (apparently both the colour and autofold mirrors remind her of a hippo )

However much I love the the M5, my bank balance needs more love and the M5 fuel costs look just astronomical compared with the frugal 530D.

Many thanks for all the input

OK, made the serious mistake of test driving an M5 at the weekend.

The dealer offered me a poor trade-in against my 530d but I can still (just) afford the M5 on straight HP (for our US readers that means I'll own the car outright with no balloon payment at the end of the agreement).

I really, really loved the M5 but although the heart says "YES!!!" the head says "no" because my 530d is also a beautiful car. It drives well, the low-end torque is spectacular and it doesn't attract police attention the way an M5 might It has a year to run on the Service Inclusive pack and it has 62,000 miles on it. I'm also a little concerned that the M5 might attract unwarranted attention from coins and keys does anyone have any experience of that?

The M5 is a September 06 car (a 56 plate in the UK) in Black Sapphire and Black Full Perforated Merino Leather with 26,500 miles on the clock. It has all the usual M5 toys plus (from dealer's website):-

Active Seat Ventilation (front seats), Bluetooth phone prep + telematics, BMW Connected Drive-Assist, Brushed Aluminium Shadow Interior Trim, Extended Voice Control System, Hi-Fi loudspeaker system, Hi-Fi system LOGIC7, Professional ISOFIX Child Seat System, Lumbar support. driver and front pass. M Multi-functional Seats (Front), Smokers package, Sunblind - rear windscreen, TV Function, Universal remote control, iPod Integration

Help me, please!!!

Hey 'cjbryce'

I too love M5s and wish I could afford one. I have been look at yahoo, and found a bunch of 2006's. I found 2006 M5 in excellent condition with 33,000 miles still under warranty for 51,000! Kelly Blue book trade in value is $59,000.00 on it! If I had not started my E60 530i, M5 replica, I would look at the 06 M5 for 51,000.00, run a car fax, and probably offer him 50,000.00 and try to buy it!

But your BMW now is find too, but I know once you drive an real M5 with all that HP. it kind of gets in your blood wanting one!! (LOL)

Hope this helps you!!

Eddie Presley

PS
I dont like buying a preowned "race car" like the M5 because you never know if iits had the hell ran out of it, and been dogged!! But the 51,000.00 with BMW 4yr/50,000 miles warranty is hard to pass up!

The M5 is design for very hard driving so no matter how hard the person will drive it or dogged it.
it still be a good 2nd hand sports car.
