Hi All:

I can't remember where I read this, but recently I saw a discussion of launching an (SMG) M5 versus whatever the MB automatic is called. The discussion indicated (paraphrased) that launching a fast MB is pretty much point and shoot, but that launching an M5 took eight distinct steps when using LC. Can anyone remind me where I saw this discussion? Also, if you saw the discussion, then is what was said about the M5 accurate? And, from those who know, how many distinct steps are needed to launch an M5 using LC? Thanks much.

If you are in P500 and S6 - just push the stick forward and full throttle, then release the stick and off you go

Really depends on how and when you start counting the actual steps. It can be as involving and inane as 1. open door, 2. insert key FOB, 3. foot on brake, 4. shift to N, 5. depress Start button, etc.

But if you programm the car to be at P500, S6, DSC off, it's really as simple as the MB system. Just point and shoot.

Oh, and lemme add, the above only applies to Euro-spec M5 cars ... (er, or, so I am told ... )

1 step no? Preset the M button on the steering wheel then hold the stick forward and gas it and let go...

Ok 4...

1. M
2. Stick
3. Gas
4. Let go.

US cars don't even have the real LC, we got the crippled version.

Thanks all. I am going to try to figure out where I read about the 8 steps. If I do, then I'll let you know what the claim was based on. I am sure at least that the first step was not opening the door. And, I am sure that the writer was not talking about a 12-step program for M5ers.

They probably counted each button press. For example, it's like five or six to get to "S6" mode, plus the one for the "P500"...you get the idea...

The steps ae exactly like cidair and EBMCS03 described.

BTW, do I understand this correctly...everytime you get in and start the car, you start-up in P400 regardless whether or not the last time you were driving in P500?
