Just keep the 550i and it has enough power, comfort and better gas mileage. If the gas mileage is a factor, forget the M5. Maybe get a M5, drive it and you will forget the gas mileage quickly. It is a lot of fun!

it does... the 550 has plenty of power, coming off the line The 550 is faster than the M5. but when its moving the M5 just inches ahead.

10-11 mpg city
20-21 mpg hwy (steady cruise at 65-70 mph)

And as others have commented ... it could get 3 mpg and you wouldn't care.

True. No one buys a M5 for the mpg. I think that the siren song of the V10 could make even the biggest tightwad forget about the mpg.

Here's how I see it ... if you're even the least bit WORRIED about gas mileage, fueling with supreme every 2 to 3 days, paying higher insurance rates, and changing rear tires every 7000 or so miles, then keep the 550i. However if money is no object, trade that 550i soon! I've had both cars and my 550 got 19-20 mpg mixed city & hwy driving; the M5 was 11-12 mpg mixed. HUGE difference despite 2 extra cylinders. Why? Revving a 10-cylinder to 8250 rpm is both an emotional and aural experience.

And you'll NEVER see 24+ mpg in an M5 ... unless you're driving it down a hill with your foot off the accelerator. Or driving your 550i in 6th at steady highway speeds.

i'm hitting 6.2mpg city driving and 13mpg on he highway - Garden state Parkway - my car consumes half a tank a day. to fill it up cost me $54.34 so around $27.00 a day!

dont even know how i get by on that including the payments, pretty crazy and

ONE DAMN EXPENSIVE CAR TO DRIVE

If your worried about gas mileage you will be worried about driving this car period.

I've only had mine for 3 days but I like how the low fuel light comes on at a 1/4 tank. The car's like yeah I'm gonna drink this 1/4 tank in the next 10 miles so you better stop soon!!!
