California requires it but I have never had one on any of my cars 'cept an SUV. I did get a fix it ticket once about 10 years back but that was in Fremont, CA and the cops there are really anal about it. I hear the cops in San Francisco are pretty anal as well. But other than that, I have had CHP and other local patrol officers drive by and look at my car with no issues. And that's with my turn heads RPI exhaust system roaring.

Of course NJ requires it ... maybe one day RFID will eliminate need for both front and rear tags and enable real-time tracking of every vehicle.

Isn't BIG BROTHER monitoring the forum

Wow, are you serious? It was $25 10 years ago. I used to leave it on my dashboard because it's visible from the front and within 3 ft of the ground which used to be the law unless they changed that too...

We do in Illinois. But, I never have it in my cars for 17 years now. It is a secondary offense, meaning, they can't pull you over for that reason alone.

Holy crap, now I am seriously thinking about that retractable license plate.

Bah, just realized that I have front cam that would get in the way...

Majority of my cars have no front plate until this summer when my wife got a ticket on her benz.

I have not needed to use it but I put this on the BMW, and I transfered it to the Mtech bumper later
