DAB in the UK

My Ride: M5 & X5 3.0D sport (misses motor)
Previous: M3 CSL, M3, Porsche Boxster S, Z3
Have a MY2009 M5, and outside of London DAB receptioon gets a little sketchy. In the main configuration menus you can set it to auto switch back to FM, however having set this nothing seems to happed, bar intervals of lovely engine sound til I get a siganl back. Am I missing something here I expected it to switch dynamically back and forth between DAB and FM much as other manufacturers do?

i live in Essex, and the DAB is really unreliable i find. i tend to just use FM if anything. mostly have the iPod on though.

My Ride: Oct 2007: 525d SE Auto, Space Grey, Black Leather, Visibility Pack, Luxury Pack, Media Pack, Rear Air Bags, Space Saver Spare, Comfort Access, Auto Dim mirror + Ext folding, Through Load System, All round heated seats, Extended interior light pack, DAB, Logic 7, USB Interface and HUD.
I have DAB, and it is set to switch to FM if no signal. Alas, it has never done it. Getting traffic reports is also pretty hit and miss on DAB, it is on the (very small) list for when it goes in for its first service.
I generally find the DAB signal OK. What does happen though is it says "no Signal" then you choose the station again (on a preset for me) and it just then works. Looks like a software thing they need to fix.

In the manual it says about this transfer to FM setting, but I beleive it also says, not all stations support this feature. Maybe then it has something to do with the broadcasters?? 
I too have DAB, and quite frankly am dissapointed with the reception I get. :thumbsdown:

When is quite pointless because when it sounds good the FM station also sounds good but when it sounds rubbish the FM sounds better!
