Yea, thats why I got the 5er, because in the beginning of the year on route 7 when I was heading towards AdamsMorgan I sped on DunnsLoring Mclean and recieved a wreckless driving ticket going 95 in the 35 whereas the car infront of me going a faster speed got away, so yea I had a bad experience with the car, but I would never trade it for anything else.

DuDe - WOW - 95 on a 35 - I can only begin to guess the drama you had to go thru the VA Judiciary system, especially Fairfax cops. - Hey good to see a fellow E60'er in the DC area too!

Yea, thanks infact I got off easy, as I hired an attorney and he greatly helped me with recieving only a few points and a higher Insurance premium, I didnt recieve a regular wreckless driving suspension of 6 months, because I've had a clean driving record, btw. it was a vienna cop out of his jurisdiction so that also helped my case out. IMO.

Exclamation

The only solution is both I bought a 06 M5 new and use a 996 as a daily driver best of both worlds.

Hi, newbie here.

I have an E60 M5 and a 997 Carrera S. The Porsche is my favourite unless I have stuff or people to carry and then the M5 wins out. For sports driving, the 911 is a easy choice.

The M5 isn't much fun in the city - the SMG is a pain - but on the right road out of town it is sensational. The trouble is that you find yourself on the right road 5% of the time and the rest of the time the car can't show its full capabilities. I'd love to drive the M5 on the autobahn, but we don't have them here in Australia. It cruises at the speed limit very comfortably but you just know there is so much more there.

In a straight line the M5 will beat the Porsche. As soon as some corners enter the picture, the 911 is better and catches the M5. A good sports car will always be more fun than a good sedan, but that doesn't stop the M5 being a great car - if a little narrow in its abilities.

That is the keyed answer. The prices of 996's have fallen. In some cases they are lower than the 993's (1995-1998).

Dude,

Why are you looking for a woman to validate your ride; what you decide to get. IMO, this is but one of the problems why enthusiasts fight all the time about who's car is better... All because some woman says what's hot and what's not. No validation for me, I GET what I want for me and if the chick digs it great!

To answer your question without further judgment (Comments about you making a decision based on a woman's taste), is I would go for the ///M5 over an Carrera any day. Two different cars, totally different driving experiences (Forget about the power difference! )

If you are like 18 or 20, I'd say go for the little toy (Carrera) for now have fun; gain some experience and get yourself a BMW and let's talk balance... (BMW Owners) know what I mean.

Either way, it is German so, have at it and get it soon; stop procrastinating.

M5 and Carrera S are both great cars, but the Carrera S is certainly no "little toy"

Okay, I see you own one. It's not a little toy.
