Hi guys,

I'm being proactive, joined the forum before I picked up my car
This is exciting, I feel like I'm about to pop my cherry haha
Tomorrow is the day, going to go pick it up at ~11AM EST (Montreal time).

Going to post pics once the deed is done. Anyone else from MTL here?

How is this beast on gas from any of the owners here...

Regards,
Ant

Enjoy the occasion and the day. There will be many more days (years) of pleasure to come. The gas mileage depends on the amount of fun you have with your right foot. I did a moderate highway cruise of almost 2,000 miles recently and averaged over 24 with a V8. I drove into an 8 mph wind for several hours on part of the trip and through heavy rain for about 4 hours on another part. Both took a toll on mileage.

Since you're posting in the M5 forum, I will assume you're getting an M. If so, contrary to JDN's mileage, you will NEVER, repeat NEVER, get 24 mpg unless you have the engine off and someone is pushing the car for 8-10 of those miles

MPG before break-in is a bit worse, but I'm well past that and average 12-14 mpg. I drive moderately aggressive, but even with straight highway driving, I don't think I've heard anything better than around 18 or so. Make friends with your local gas station

Seeing you are from Canada, I will give you L/100km. I get 18 city and I have got as good as 12 highway doing a steady 110 kph. City will drop to 20 to 22 if you drive spirited. This car is not good on gas but my wifes FX35 is not much better and the M a lot more fun. This car has one of the worst EPA ratings. There are not many cars that burn more gas. If there is a down side to this car, it is having to fill the tank every few days. I got so sick of this in the cold that I have parked it for the winter.

Hey! Snowing like hell here, picked it up with the winter pack - thank god, as we're expecting 30cm of snow today.\
Will post pics as soon as I can

Also BMW is offering me some kind of an XM module, that looks like it plugs directly into
the trunk, and shows up on the iDrive under "SAT" in the Entertainment. They're telling
me its $1200, but they can let it go for $600. Good deal? Because I see other XM
packages for $250-500.

Thanks,
Ant

More info on the Xm please. I would not mind knowing what this is about. They are telling me no satellite in Canada yet. Can you provide a phone number and name for the parts guys that have this. I am interested.

Hey, this unit that my BMW dealer had was actually made in the US, and needs to be activated with a US address (which is relatively easy to do).
However, the unit itself is called:

VISTEON ZB SATELLITE DLP MODULE G2 (Has a BMW logo on it as if its made by BMW)
"Sirius Radio"

I was unable to even check the prices on this thing, so I went ahead and paid them the $500,
because they told me it retails for $1200, so I said why not!
It comes with a bracket and goes straight into the expansion slot
in the trunk. I will take pictures of this thing and post them up as soon as I plug it in. Didn't have
time to do it yet. The cool part is, it apparently will show
up under the "SAT" menu in my iDrive, which would be extremely cool!

Anyways hope the info helps.

-Regards
Ant

P.S. If you would like to know more, just call up BMW Canbec (bmwcanbec.com) and ask to speak
with Janick. Tell him you are curious about the XM unit that he just sold, because as far as I know
they only had this ONE unit.
